BASTION, THE RUSSIAN SCHOOL TO TRAIN JOURNALISTS IN CRISIS ENVIRONMENT

Bastion is special practical course aimed at training journalists and press officers to work, behave and survive in zones of military conflicts, during antiterrorist, peacekeeping and humanitarian operations, public riots, natural disasters, etc.

The course established by the Union of Journalists of Moscow and its Association of Military Press enjoys support by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The classes are held in the Training Center of Combined-Arms Military Academy based in the town of Solnechnogorsk near Moscow. The center is world-famous for its high-level training of peacekeepers coming from different countries.

Number one in the European list of similar training grounds, the center is equipped with sophisticated facilities vividly simulating crisis and war environment. Role plays make students feel themselves hostages for real, and shell and mine explosions nearby make you feel sick, but your mind orders you to recall what instructors have taught you and act adequately. The horror shows you are not a victim for the time being. Numerous types of arms, auto and armored vehicles and simulators promote effective and state-of-the-art training.

The classes are provided by officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Civil Defense, Federal Security Service, the International Red Cross, specialized medical centers, leading civilian universities as well as Spetsnaz veterans and war reporters.

The training center is located in the woods near a fascinating lake and provides comfortable hotel, and three-times-a-day meal. The course provides a tourist bus for sightseeing Moscow.

The training program lasts five days.
